Hey, I’m also trying to lose some of my holiday pounds, so I understand what you’re thinking. Unfortunately, just eating centrum vitamins and nothing else for 3 months is VERY dangerous, and you definitely won’t be able to keep your period.

Your menstrual period is controlled by your body’s hormones – estrogen and progesterone. You need enough of both hormones to have regular periods. Your body uses fat to make estrogen and progesterone, so you need enough fat to maintain a normal menstrual period.

Centrum vitamins are healthy supplements, but they don’t contain the fat you need to make the estrogen and progesterone for a normal menstrual cycle. So no, taking Centrum vitamins will not help you keep your menstrual period.

Now you’re probably wondering, "How much fat do I need to maintain my menstrual period?" If your Body Mass Index is below 19, you don’t have enough fat to make the hormones you need, and you will lose your menstrual period. So DON’T lose anymore weight if your Body Mass index is below 19!

What is Body Mass Index, you ask? It’s a measure of your body fat based on your height and weight. You can figure out your Body Mass Index at this site: http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

The most effective and healthiest way to lose weight is to eat a balanced diet that contains about 1500 calories a day. You definitely don’t want to eat less than 1200 calories a day. (Your brain needs a certain amount of glucose to survive, and consuming less than 1200 calories a day would be disastrous on your body. Your immune system will be knocked out, so you’ll get sick very easily. And you’ll lose muscle in addition to fat.)

My professor introduced us to a website that was helpful for me in following my diet. It is http://www.mypyramidtracker.gov/ . Try it out to see how healthy your diet is. Hope this helps!

If you want to fast it should be under medical supervision & you shouldn’t take vitamins as far as I know. If you have an eating disorder you should get help right away. It is not normal to want to sacrifice your health (including skin, hair, etc) to lose weight.

a few months? You won’t lose weight, your body will go into shock and use up nutrients that you need instead of using your fat stores. I think you should see a counseler.

That is not a healthy way to lose weight. Fat, is the bodies energy storage. If you stop eating fat, your body says ‘hey we had better start saving fat, we arent getting anymore’. You will end up teaching your body to store fat better. A regular meal plan, with exercise and vitamins is a great way. To get a headstart on it, limit the amount of carbs you eat for a two months. You will lose weight if you can limit your carbs. However after the two months you must resume a healthy diet with exercise and vitamins. (No carbs ends up being bad for your heart). Ok?
