Could a person survive on Centrum A-Z vitamins and water alone?

If not, why?
ok then, how about if a person ate two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches a day in addition to the vitamins.
no, I am not attempting to try this. I just had a thought (forgot about calories) and posted this without thinking about it for longer than 2 seconds.

No, because your body needs more than vitamins and minerals to survive.

Water is, of course, essential, but your body also needs proteins, fats, carbohydrates, etc. To absorb some vitamins, you have to have foods along with them.

Obviously, you burn calories just by existing. Without actual food, you will first burn up all fat on your body and then your muscles will be used (this includes your heart, by the way, and is the reason anorexics die eventually)

No, you need calories to sustain you. You would eventually burn up all your fat and your body would begin to eat your own organs!!

No. Your body will need the basic food too…

no. That is starving youself, vitamins helps to add nutrients to your body in addition to the foods you eat that don’t provide as many nutrients as it should.

You need to balance your food intake and exercises.

    I hope you’re not considering trying it…

Your body turns chemical energy from food into the mechanical energy of all your parts moving around and into heat (which you radiate 24/7). Vitamins and minerals themselves give you no energy.

2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches a day would give you MAYBE 800 kcalories. Also, the only protein you would get, coming from peanuts, would be an "incomplete protein" meaning it can sustain life, but does not promote growth. You would lose weight FAST, and become sick in not too long.
