Do iron supplements affect your bowel?

I suffer from mild anemia, and I’ve noticed that since I’ve started taking iron supplements, my bowel movements have been darker than usual. The frequency of my…washroom visits :D is still constant, but I’m wondering if I should be concerned about the slight change in colour. Any opinions?

Iron supplements will do just that. It is the iron that your body was unable to absorb.

This is normal. When I got iron for my prenatal vitamins, the pharmacist told me about this and yes, when I would go to the bathroom, it would be darker than usual.
