is it safe to take glucophage (metformin) with a multivitamin dietary supplement?

i’m 18 and was diagnosed with pcos, so it feels like it’s nearly impossible to lose weight on any diet. i attempted the low gi diet, but got sick of it after awhile. so, is it safe to take metformin while taking a diet supplement?
